[Why is he here? Soliciting a poor, innocent girl with a neatly wrapped package under one arm. It’s Valentine’s Day- She should be out having a blast with her gal pals, or spending it with someone who can really show her what love is.

Love. The very thought of the word makes him want to scream and run in the opposite direction, but here he is, trapped with nowhere else to go. Her pull is worse than that of gravity itself, and he finds himself thinking about her often- Because it’s easier than wondering where his loved ones have gone.

[He whispers to himself, while tapping loudly against the door with one hand.]

[ when she hears tapping on her door, she nearly drops the vase of flowers in her hand. she fumbles with it, thankfully manages to set it on the table without too much incident before taking a moment to calm her nerves. she's never celebrated valentine's before, never did anything special aside from her usual routine. she knows about it, yes, but knowing and actually doing something for it are two very different things. spending the night with shinra is also different from spending the night with sakamoto, and sometimes she wonders if maybe what she's doing is wrong.

it's always been frightening to become close to someone. it's always been terrifying to become close to someone this quickly. but fear is a part of life and running away from your fears for the rest of your life is no way to live.

(even if there is no where to run.)

she opens the door after steeling her nerves, steps to the side to let him in and holds up her device for him to see. ]

Hello. Thank you for coming by today.

[She's always so polite. He should save her the pain of having to deal with his flighty, air-headed tendencies, but he can't help it.

He enjoys her company too much.

Sakamoto offers her a quaint smile, nothing too overcompensating for once. He extends the arm with the package in hand, chuckling idly as he does so.]

Thanks for the chocolate! Man, that stuff was delicious- You made it yourself, huh?

Now, now, since I'm a merchant, I believe in give and take! So, since you gave me somethin', you gotta take somethin' from me too.

[ she's really glad she doesn't have a face for him to see how embarrassed she is at the compliment, but she has a feeling that he can tell, with the way her shoulders are set and how closely she clasps the package to herself. small wisps of smoke seep from the vents at the top of her helmet and she turns away quickly to let him inside. ]

Have you eaten yet? I thought of making dinner, but I wasn't sure if you were allergic to anything.

Nah! I haven't eaten anything.

[His head had been so full of stupid thoughts, thoughts of her and thoughts of home, thoughts of what Zura had said recently...

Her chocolates had been all that he had eaten that day.]

[He notices those tufts of smoke, grinning wide. He can never stay focused on being sad for too long when he's around her.]

[ no. she shakes her helmet and her hands quickly, typing rapidly on her device. ]

No, it's not that, I'm fine. Not burning at all. Please don't worry about it.

It seems like things are heating up already!

[That stupid smirk doesn't leave his face. Perhaps it's wrong, for him to keep in touch with her, to keep touching her... But he can't help himself.

He rests and hand on her shoulder, leaning in so that he's close enough to whisper in her "ear."]

Is that why you asked me to come over? You're acting like you have a crush.

[ their proximity was already making her nervous, but his hand on her shoulder and his voice so close to her helmet startles her.

... enough to send her helmet flying off her neck. thankfully, she leaned back enough so it wouldn't hit him in the face, landing on the ground behind her. ]

Sakamoto's head turns in the direction of the helmet, and after a brief moment of lingering, he withdraws his hand.]

If you wanted to hit me, you could've just used your fist.

[ she's certain that she'd like it, too; despite his tendencies to be silly, sakamoto is a kind and earnest man. he also has a knack of figuring people out pretty quickly, which she assumes is fitting, what with him being a merchant and all.

she opens the package carefully, as if afraid to tear the wrapping, and when she finally pulls it out she's a little awestruck. she wasn't really sure what she was expecting, but an apron wasn't one of them. her fingers lightly run over the cats printed on the front before putting it on. she holds her arms up in a way one does when asking for someone's opinion. ]

[Thankfully, he had picked up the apron on his way to work, or Zura would have certainly stolen it.

Celty's question startles him, and he can't help but stare when he's presented with the opportunity. Perhaps it's rude, but it really is something to see a woman wearing what he picked out.

it's a little embarrassing seeing him staring at her like that, but surprisingly, a part of her doesn't mind. more smoke flares up briefly from her neck at his compliment as she twists her fingers in the hem of the apron. how does she thank him? just saying "thank you" won't be enough.

eventually, she steps closer to him and wraps her arms around his neck in a hug, pushing herself up on the balls of her feet to press the side of her neck against his shoulder. ]
